Hi there and welcome to the futuristic logo creation tutorial. Hopefully you’ll learn some very exciting new tricks along the way. Let’s begin!
Create a circle using the Ellipse Tool (U, third last from the right, hold on for the menu). Hold the shift key and make a perfect to your satisfaction. And use the color you wish. I have used : #313230.
Select the move tool (V, top right). Press ctrl + T. Right click and select warp (End of second category) and you’ll get something like this:
Now you’ll need to stretch the image in a few places.
So now you have got the face done. Now it is time to have some effects to make it more realistic. We’ll start by rasterizing the image (Right click image > Rasterize).
To add the effects you need to open your blending options by double clicking your image and add the following effects:
The face is now done. We’ll go ahead and create the eyes using the pen tool. The way you create the eye will determine the emotion and mood of the character, so you can do this step differently.
While holding Alt click on the second point. And do the same next time with the last point you create. Fill the eye with the color #bababa by clicking on the color palette.
Now we’ll add some effects to the eye. Rasterizing the layer we’ll add some effects using the blending options.
Now that one of the eyes is done, duplicate the layer. Select the eye using the move tool. Now go to edit > transform > Flip Horizontal. Next move the eye toward the right. You have a decent face now. Only thing you are missing now is the mouth.
The mouth is one the most important thing that’ll decide your alien’s emotion. I have chosen a happy face, but you can try out how other emotions look on your character.
I have made a quick smile using the pen tool and added some effects.
